LINO CARVING AND PRINTING DAY WITH KATIE MAY

Get hands-on with cutting tools and blocks, practising techniques before carving your own lino block. Using pictures, drawings, or objects as inspiration, you’ll develop a design to carve the workshop has a botanical theme, so drawing from the natural world is encouraged, though any subject works. No drawing confidence needed; tracing from a reference works beautifully. Designs should be clear, bold, and around A5 in size so you can complete your carving on the day.

You’ll learn to transfer your design onto the block and carve it using specialist tools a slow, absorbing process and a rare chance to lose yourself in the rhythm of your hands. 

Finally, you’ll pull prints from your carved block, mixing inks and experimenting with barens and presses to bring your design to life.

Participants are welcome to bring a packed lunch, or visit one of our lovely local outlets during the lunch break.
