How i paint…
The process usually begins with a feeling that I want to express onto canvas. The material doesn’t really matter as long as I can get the colours out of my head and translate them into a piece of work. I love working with acrylics, using them loosely to create a wash of colour but also piling them on thick to build rich texture and intense marks.
I love the way colour makes me feel, it evokes happiness, bright layers and texture all merging together. I feel incredibly grateful that I get to do this for a living and even more so seeing my work hang in a gallery or on someones wall. Expression through painting helps me interpret and process the world around me. I like to think my work can manifest positivity, even in times of darkness. Hearing feedback from clients letting me know they feel utter joy each time they walk past a painting in there home brings me so much grattitude.
My artwork has always been my sanctuary, a place where I can disconnect and find head space, blocking out the noise of the world when it gets to loud. I often get asked to define my work into words and I’d say my art is a collection of expressions, experiences and feelings which have been translated into colour. It brings me so much joy and I hope that translates to you.
